A custom WordPress build for a Phnom Penh law firm: nine practice areas, seventeen lawyer profiles, and English, Khmer and Chinese URLs. Currently in gated client review.
THE BUILD.
Brief
A Phnom Penh law firm needed its first website: nine practice areas, seventeen lawyer profiles, insights and a document library in English, Khmer and Chinese.
Constraints
Locked-down shared hosting with no SSH or working FTP, no page builder or third-party runtime, all copy pending firm approval, and Khmer/Chinese translations not yet supplied.
What we built
A custom classic WordPress theme and must-use plugin model practices, lawyers, resources and partners as structured fields. Polylang provides Khmer and Chinese URLs with an English fallback, and a consent-aware enquiry handler adds spam controls and demo/live delivery modes.
Outcome
168/168 language URLs returned 200 in a 26 Oct 2026 crawl, and 129 internal links were checked with 0 broken. Lighthouse mobile lab on the home page: performance 98, accessibility 100, LCP 2.4 s. The site is in gated client review and is not publicly launched.

What we learned
DECISIONS
THAT HELD.
- 01Model practice and profile content as fields, not pages, so non-technical staff can keep it consistent.
- 02Use the classic editor for the content types staff maintain; the block editor added UI without capability here.
- 03Keep analytics and third-party embeds out; performance and confidentiality were easier to defend.
