Does SakalPOS work when the internet is down?

Yes — fully. Ring up sales, take cash, print receipts, kick the drawer, attach customers, record safe drops, and open or close shifts, all without internet. Every action carries an idempotency key so when you reconnect, nothing double-charges. Bakong (the auto-confirmed dynamic flow) specifically needs the network — it has to talk to the Bakong webhook — but your static bank QR keeps working offline; the cashier confirms with the bank reference.

Can it print Khmer on my existing thermal printer?

Almost certainly yes. We render Khmer text as a bitmap on the device and send it to the printer, so the Khmer characters come out regardless of which built-in fonts the printer supports. We've tested on Star, Epson m30, Bixolon, and the Xprinter XP-58 / XP-80 range. Older Khmer-only legacy printers are also supported via our Unicode-to-Legacy transcoder.

Which payment methods does it accept?

Three: cash (USD + KHR, mixed in one sale), Bakong (dynamic per-sale QR auto-confirmed via webhook), and static bank QR (whatever standing merchant QR your shop already uses — customer scans, enters amount in their banking app, cashier confirms with the bank reference). You can split a single sale across any of them — e.g. $5 cash + 5,000 ៛ cash + the rest via Bakong.

Is SakalPOS for one shop or multiple shops?

SakalPOS is built for single-shop businesses — one register, one location. If you run a multi-shop chain, our enterprise platform, Sakal Retail, deploys per location with shared product catalog, cross-shop reports, and an inventory transfer flow.

What hardware do I need to start?

At minimum: a device with a browser (tablet, phone, or laptop) and a thermal printer for receipts. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner is optional but recommended for retail. A cash drawer connects via your printer's RJ12 port. We have a tested hardware list — ask us and we'll share what works.

How much does SakalPOS cost?

Can my manager approve refunds from their phone?

Yes. Install the SakalPOS Manager app (iOS + Android) and a push notification arrives whenever a cashier requests approval. Tap, Face ID / fingerprint, done — the cashier is unblocked in under five seconds. You can be at lunch, in a meeting, or on the way home.

Is it built for Cambodian tax?

Yes. Sequential invoice numbering (no gaps), B2B tax invoices with the buyer's tax ID, B2C receipts, per-tax-class breakdowns on the receipt, and a verification QR. We're tracking the GDT e-invoicing rollout closely and shipping integration as the spec stabilises.

Can I export my data if I leave?

Of course. Every product, customer, order, refund, and payment is exportable as CSV (with PDF for receipts) any time. Your data is yours. We also publish a versioned REST API so you can wire reports straight into QuickBooks, Xero, or your accountant's system.

Every offline action carries a client-generated UUID so retries never double-charge. When you reconnect, the queue replays in the right order.

SakalPOS is multi-currency from the cart up: cash can be tendered in both USD and KHR, change can come back in either, the FX rate is sanity-banded (warns on USD ↔ KHR outside 3,500–5,500), and every payment row records the rate used so reports always reconcile.

Pick your base currency (USD or KHR), enter your store details, pair your thermal printer (USB, Bluetooth, or network), and enable Bakong and your static bank QR. Setup usually takes under 10 minutes — and the wizard catches typos in your bank reference before you finish.

Start selling
Tap-to-cart from the product grid, scan barcodes, type PLU codes, or use quick keys for your top sellers. Take cash, Bakong, or static bank QR — split a single sale across any of them. The customer display mirrors the cart, shows the QR, and confirms change. Receipts print in Khmer, English, or both.

Close out & report
End of shift, count cash per denomination (USD + KHR side by side), reconcile the variance, and print a Z-report. The owner sees today's sales, tender mix, refunds, and discounts from their phone — wherever they are. Tax-ready exports come standard.
